Kalpitiya

Consisting of many small islands and the surrounding sea, Kalpitiya is a hotspot for dolphin-watching excursions. A three-hour drive from Colombo, it is located in the Puttalam District.

             The most common whales found here are spern, blue, minke, melon-headed and dwarf sperm whales, and the best viewing time is between November and April. Kalpitiya is also known for being the best kite surfing locationon the island.

             Koggala, Galle, Tangalle, Hikkaduwa and Trincomalee also boast idyllic beaches. Then again, when in Sri Lanka, you can find yourself a sady corner of the shoreline, tie a hammock to a couple of coconut trees, and throw in a deck chair, beach umbrella and towel for good measure to create your own private beach…just about anywhere………..
